I think if they returned back to pre-2008's vision, policies, etc. IMO, eBay is hosed, and it's just a matter of time before the screaming. And that ISN'T going to be done by selling high-priced items as Ianone thinks, because sellers aren't going to list "high-priced items" on a site that has a reputation for buyer abuse of sellers. How many disputes/cases have sellers had go their way? How many times have item returns been forced, when eBay's "customer service" tells you "we'll work it out after you've received the returned item", only to tell you "You lost the case because YOU ACCEPTED THE RETURN".Įbay doesn't need to "retain" those buyers - it needs to lure in new ones. The ebay bucks specials are nice and ebay bucks were nice but there are bigger fish to fry.Īs far as eBay trying to retain buyers, they've been doing that since 2008 at least, when Donahoe juggled the feedback system to prevent negatives being left for buyers, even if they murdered the CEO. Glitches that are known are seemingly unfixable. They also need some investment in the platform. Ebay is losing sales by raising costs of sale. The majority of the reasons are because of the cost of sale. I accept any offer that I can reasonably accept. If ebay active buyers only declined by 9% then site traffic must be up tremendously! I always tell them no but I know if they are still asking then other sellers are saying yes. They have tried every clever trick in the book to get contact info. Let me be clear I follow ebay rules to the letter.but every day I have a buyer who wants to buy outside of ebay to avoid the tax. Even if they need to open a proxy shipping hub in a state with no sales tax and sends the item "forwards" to the recipient. Ebay needs to find a brilliant legal team to fight like hell. Sales tax is another huge issue for buyers. When ebay increases selling costs to make up for declining buyers the result is a further decline in buyers.
